When life feels overwhelming, nature can be a powerful antidote. Whether it’s watching birds from your window, wandering through a beloved greenspace, or kayaking along your favourite river, spending as little as 20 minutes a day immersed in the natural world can make a significant difference.
Because of these profound benefits, part of our vision is to connect people with their rivers and wetlands. However, many local people face barriers to accessing Norfolk’s natural spaces, such as transportation costs, location, isolation, or simply not knowing where to go. We want to help communities understand the vital role they play in our lives.
That’s why, in 2023, we jumped at the chance to partner with Aviva and WWF to connect more people with the green and blue spaces around them. Together, we created the Aviva Access to Nature Fund.
Now, we’re celebrating the second year of supporting schools, charities, and community groups in experiencing Norfolk’s beautiful countryside. In total, the Fund has enabled over 2,250 people from 40 community groups to feel the uplifting power of nature firsthand, bringing us one step closer to making nature accessible to all.
